Dear readers,
As I reflect on the 25 years since ICH Group was founded, I would like to share below an email which I shared with my children, with all the young people in ADDX/ICH (young is an attitude). It should help you better understand how I make certain decisions, which could be confusing to some of you. And feel free to forward to whoever you think could benefit from this.
Finding your motivations in life ?
动力是人生的源泉 怎么寻找这个泉源？
In my early childhood, the external environment was less comfortable, and finding motivations was simpler. Make money and provide for my mother whom I dearly love. As I get older, building and supporting ventures which build successful product and businesses. Subsequently, how to provide for my family. Then how to build a company with loyal staff who I can call family.
On my 41st birthday, I had a question for myself: how to be a role model for the young and my children? I felt that the world was underestimating the damage it has done in reducing the opportunities the young people have. Although my generations and before were born with little, there was an abundance of opportunities. Current and future generations are born into prosperity, but with fewer and fewer opportunities. The abuse of the environment for the sake of growth and hogging of resources by the older generations who already have so much, are some examples.
I cannot imagine a world that is better off when the younger generations are not.
While I do the same old routine thing every day of my life regardless of which country I am at, I derived different dimensions of joy in pursuing this. This is my 泉源. When you have found your fountain, you need not seek external stimulation unnecessarily. Spend your life to pursue one thing and make that one thing the craft of your life.
